Objectives : Since last year two major oil spill incidents occurred around the Singapore Straits and Straits of Hormuz which are vital points on the oil route to Japan. The Petroleum Association of Japan(PAJ) participated in the cleaning-up operations of these incidents by quickly lending equipments from its bases to tackle the spills. In recognition of these contributions, the PAJ had honor to receive commemorative plaque from Maritime and Port Authority(MPA) of Singapore and a letter of appreciation from Abu Dhabi National Oil Company(ADNOC). In this Symposium, those involved in these incidents will give presentations on the outline of the cases, their response, and oil spill response systems in those area. The objectives of this symposium are to make the most of this information to help our response for any future accidents in Japan, and also to study the way for Japan's cooperation in this field through joint exercises so on.
