Oil Spill Response Equipment
Preparing for Major Oil Spills
PAJ lends large, high-performance equipment in container units

For effective mechanical recovery of spilt oil and for protection of shorelines, PAJ has mainly installed oil containment boom, oil skimmers and tentative storage tanks in stockpile bases. Also, based on the lessons learnt from the past major oil spill incidents, such as the case in Alaska or in the Arabian Gulf, very popular and field-proven devices have been selected for the equipment to be stocked. Each piece of the equipment, together with its accessories, is stored in dedicated containers to facilitate prompt lending and transportation in an emergency.

(ELASTEC, U.S.A)

ELASTEC Rubbermax V-Sweep System is a Wedge-shaped "Open Mouth" type oil boom manufactured from heavy-duty vulcanized Nitrile rubber for easy single ship operations with a custom-made lightweight aluminum outrigger or Boomvane. This system includes 4-stroke backpack inflator and integrated power unit and control stand to operate boom reel. Freeboard: 51 cm, Draft: 71cm, 40 m/12 ft container (3.66 mL × 2.44 mW × 2.44 mH, 3 ton).

Hi-Sprint 1500
(Vikoma, UK)

Freeboard: 60 cm, Draft: 90 cm, Unicon-joint 250 m/10 f container,
500 metres can be deployed in less than twenty minutes. This speed is due to the innovative features of single point inflation, a continuous air feeder sleeve, and a one way valve to every 3 m chamber. The boom's continuous cylindrical shape, coupled with low air inflation pressure increases flexibility, and produces a very responsive containment system. The high buoyancy to weight ratio gives good wave following capability.
Hd Sprint Boom
(Vikoma, UK)

Freeboard: 60 cm, Draft: 90 cm, Unicon-joint 250 m/14 f container,
Hd Sprint Boom is manufactured from Neoprene-coated fabric that is twice the thickness of standard Vikoma fabric. Vikoma's unique construction method means that the fabric is not perforated at any point by fasteners. Together, these features substantially increase the fabric tear strength. Each boom section has internal bulkheads every 5 metres to form independent chambers.
Beach Boom
(Vikoma, UK)

When afloat, Shoreguardian has excellent wave following characteristics because of its air buoyancy/water ballast tube design. When aground, the vertical perforated inner membrane acts as a tension member and prevents the boom from rolling when grounded. Due to these features, Shoreguardian has excellent stability and sealing characteristics.
Ro-Boom Beach 800+650
(Ro-Clean Deami, Denmark)

Ro-Boom Beach 800: Freeboard: 31 cm, Draft: 32 cm, Length: 120 m
Ro-Boom 650: Freeboard: 20 cm, Draft: 30 cm, 200 m,
Container: 3.00 mL × 2.48 mW × 2.59 mH,
Weight: 4.03 ton
Current Buster
(NOFI, Norway)

Current Buster is for collecting and recovering spilled oil. Pulled by two towing vessels, the oil boom can gather roughly 30 kl of oil in the oil sump at the rear, and a recovery pump can be inserted in the oil sump to recover the oil. The maximum towing speed of 4 knots allows fast oil recovery.
Freeboard: 60 cm, Draft: 45 cm, Length: 72 m,
Weight: 3.8 ton

Harbour Buster Freeboard: 50 cm, Draft: 45 cm, Length: 60 m,
Weight: 3.2 ton
2. Oil Skimmer
Transrec 100, Transrec 125
(FRAMO, Norway)

Transrec is the most complete solution for oil recovery with high skimming capacity and transfer operation. The system is able to recover oil in all weather conditions as long as the oil is on the sea surface. Stretchable crane arm fitted on the hose drum lifts up/down the skimmer unit and floating hose for deployment/storage. All functions are operated from a radio control panel by only 1 person.
