Objectives |
: |
Petroleum Association of Japan has held Oil Spill Symposium 15 times since 1995 which was the year OPRC Convention came into effect with the topic of the first Symposium being “International Cooperation and the Current Set-up by the Oil Industry.” In the following years the Symposiums concentrated in bringing information about large spill incidents and new technologies, both in recovering devices & response techniques, and also in strengthening human networks, all with the aim to help properly prepare for subsequent large spill incidents.
In the last few years there have been many oil spill related incidents both large and small in size, but the “Macondo” well accident on the Mississippi Canyon in the Gulf of Mexico in 2010 has caused the regulators and the oil industry to review the approach to preparedness and response to a major incident. We believe that sufficient time has elapsed since these major incidents for the developments and changes to have now properly evolved. The title of the PAJ Oil Spill Symposium 2014 is “Organizational and Technical Developments Following Recent Oil Spill Incidents” and in this forum we hope to be able to learn directly from experienced international specialists about the recent developments in their organizations as a direct result of their recent experience.
Petroleum Association of Japan hopes that the attendees will find the presentation of the speakers both interesting and informative and that this symposium will contribute to enhancing and deepening their understanding and experience. |
